HDR & Brightness Reality

Dolby Vision on a gaming monitor is the genuine draw here, and paired with QD-OLED black levels it makes films look closer to a good TV than a desk screen. DisplayHDR 400 True Black sounds low but is an OLED-specific tier graded on black level, and the panel still peaks at 1000 cd/m2 on highlights. Full-screen output is 250 cd/m2, so a bright room flattens it. One caution: the sheet's 10% DCI-P3 figure is a data error - a QD-OLED covering 100% sRGB cannot cover 10% of DCI-P3.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Why put a curve on a 16:9 monitor? +
Because 1700R is gentle. On an ultrawide, curves are about reaching the far edges; on a 16:9 panel the aim is a slight wrap that reduces eye travel without bending straight lines noticeably. Some people still dislike it for desktop work.
02 Is Dolby Vision genuinely useful here? +
✓ Yes, and it is rare. Dolby Vision tone-maps scene by scene rather than applying one fixed curve, so supported films on Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+ look closer to how they do on a TV. Most gaming monitors decode HDR10 and nothing else.
03 Why does the spec sheet say 10% DCI-P3? +
It is a data error. The same sheet lists 100% sRGB, and DCI-P3 is a wider space than sRGB - a panel cannot cover all of the smaller space and a tenth of the larger one. QD-OLED panels of this class typically sit near 99%.
04 Can I dock a laptop to it? +
Not properly. The USB-C port is downstream only and the hub runs from USB-B upstream, so there is no single-cable video-plus-charging setup.
05 How does it compare with the AW2725Q? +
Same panel family in a different size - this is 31.6 inches at 139 PPI with a 1700R curve; the 2725Q packs 4K into 26.5 inches for much higher density, flat.
