Overview

The MSI MAG 325CQPF E18 pairs a VA panel with a 2560 x 1440 pixels / Quad HD (QHD) / 1440p resolution and a 48 Hz - 180 Hz refresh range. For picture quality, expect 300 cd/m² typical brightness, 3500 : 1 contrast and 111 % sRGB coverage. Response time is quoted at 1 ms GtG and 0.5 ms (MPRT) MPRT — the two are measured differently and shouldn’t be compared directly. On connectivity, you get 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.4.

HDR & Brightness Reality

This section is short because the spec sheet lists no HDR support of any kind, and that is worth crediting. Most panels in this price range slap a DisplayHDR 400 badge on 300 cd/m2 of brightness and call it a feature; MSI simply did not. What you get instead is 3500:1 native contrast, which does more for how games actually look than any entry-level HDR mode would. Judge this panel on its contrast and its 180 Hz, because that is what it is selling.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is 1440p too low for a 31.5-inch screen? +
It works out at 93 PPI, which is noticeably softer than the 109 PPI of a 27-inch 1440p panel. Sat at normal desk distance you will see it. The trade is immersion and price against sharpness.
02 Why is there no HDR at all? +
MSI did not certify it, and given the panel's 300 cd/m2 brightness that is an honest call rather than an omission. A DisplayHDR 400 badge here would have promised something the hardware cannot do.
03 Is 85% DCI-P3 a problem? +
For gaming, not really - colours will look slightly less saturated than a 95-99% panel, but nothing looks broken. For any colour-sensitive work, it is a real limitation.
04 What does a 1000R curve feel like at 31.5 inches? +
Quite pronounced. It is designed for viewing from about a metre, centred. On a 16:9 panel rather than an ultrawide, the wrap is more noticeable at the edges - some people love it, some find it distracting for desktop work.
05 Is AdaptiveSync as good as G-Sync certification? +
✓ Yes. It uses VESA AdaptiveSync rather than brand-specific certification, which works with both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs.
