Overview

This is a 2020 panel, and buying it in 2026 only makes sense at the right price. The EX2510 is a 24.5-inch 1080p IPS screen at 144 Hz with a 1 ms MPRT response and FreeSync Premium - specs that were mainstream when it launched and are now entry level. What has aged well is the practical stuff: 400 cd/m2 brightness is brighter than several newer budget panels here, the stand gives 130 mm of height and +/-20 degree swivel, and BenQ's Brightness Intelligence Plus still adapts to room light. What has aged badly: 8-bit colour, 1000:1 contrast, HDMI 2.0 ports, uncertified HDR10 and no USB-C.

HDR & Brightness Reality

HDR10 with no DisplayHDR tier, 1000:1 contrast and no dimming means HDR is a checkbox rather than a feature - and in 2020, when this launched, that was normal for the price. The interesting thing is that the panel's 400 cd/m2 brightness would actually clear the DisplayHDR 400 bar; BenQ simply did not certify it. Either way, leave HDR off and enjoy a bright, fast 1080p panel for what it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is a 2020 monitor worth buying in 2026? +
Only on discount. The panel specs - 144 Hz, 1080p, 1 ms MPRT - are entry level now, and newer rivals offer 165-200 Hz for similar money. Where it still competes is brightness and stand quality.
02 How does it compare with the newer EX240? +
The EX240 is 23.8 inches at 165 Hz with a 350 cd/m2 panel; this is 24.5 inches at 144 Hz but 400 cd/m2 and a better stand with 130 mm of height. Neither is a big win - pick on price.
03 Why is 89 PPI better than the EX270M's 81? +
Same 1080p resolution, smaller screen. At 24.5 inches the pixels are packed tighter than at 27, so text looks slightly less soft. Still well short of 1440p.
04 Is 400 cd/m2 unusual for a budget panel? +
Slightly, yes. Several newer budget monitors here sit at 250-350 cd/m2, so this 2020 design is brighter than some of its successors - useful in a room with windows.
05 Can I connect a console? +
✓ Yes, at 1080p over HDMI 2.0. You will not get 4K120 or anything a current console is capable of - the ports and panel both predate that.
