HDR & Brightness Reality
HDR10 with no DisplayHDR tier, 300 cd/m2 typical and a 370 cd/m2 peak gives you seventy nits of headroom - which is to say, none worth using. There is no local dimming behind an edge-lit backlight. The genuinely useful number on this panel is 3000:1 contrast, and that works the same in SDR. If you came here from the IPS S2725QS, contrast is the upgrade you are buying; HDR is not.

Frequently Asked Questions
01 How is this different from the S2725QS? +
Panel and size. This is 31.5-inch VA with 3000:1 contrast at 140 PPI; the S2725QS is 27-inch IPS with 1500:1 at 163 PPI. This one is better for dark films, that one is sharper for text.
02 Does the white finish affect anything? +
Only the room it suits. It is the same panel and stand as any other finish - but a white 31.5-inch monitor blends into a living space where a black gaming panel would dominate.
03 Is 4 ms too slow at 120 Hz? +
It is the mismatch on this monitor. The refresh is fast enough for console performance modes, but the response means fast motion still smears. It is a smooth big screen rather than a gaming display.
04 Why is there no swivel? +
Dell keeps the S-series stands simple - you get 100 mm of height and -5 to +21 degrees of tilt, but no swivel or pivot. On a 713 mm panel, plan your desk position first.
05 Can it charge a laptop? +
No. There is no USB-C at all - just two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort. Video only.
