HDR & Brightness Reality

Local dimming is what separates this from the crowd of DisplayHDR 600 panels that have none. The backlight is W-LED with dimming zones behind it, so bright highlights can be pushed while the rest of the frame is held back - and 600 cd/m2 peak gives it something to push. The catch is the same one every edge-dimmed LCD has: native contrast is 1000:1, so dimming helps large dark areas but cannot stop small highlights from haloing. Real HDR improvement, but not OLED-class separation.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is 4K at 144 Hz worth it over 1440p at 240 Hz? +
It depends what you play. For single-player and console gaming, 4K at 144 Hz looks noticeably sharper on a 31.5-inch screen. For competitive shooters, 1440p at 240 Hz is the better trade, because frames matter more than pixels.
02 Does local dimming actually help here? +
✓ Yes, moderately. Most DisplayHDR 600 monitors have no dimming at all, so this one can hold back dark areas while pushing highlights. Native contrast is still 1000:1 though, so small bright objects will halo.
03 Can I connect a laptop with one cable? +
No. The hub is USB-B upstream only - there is no USB-C on this monitor, so video and power stay separate.
04 What does the stand actually adjust? +
No. You get +/-30 degree swivel, -5 to +21 tilt and 100 mm of height, but no pivot. On a 31.5-inch panel that is fairly normal.
05 Is a 2022 model still worth buying? +
On paper, yes - 4K, 144 Hz, 1 ms GtG and DisplayHDR 600 with dimming still reads well in 2026. What has moved on since is contrast: OLED panels at similar sizes now offer far deeper blacks.
